Asset Languages principles

Asset Languages assesses the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of learners against the Languages Ladder.

  • Asset Languages recognises progress in small steps throughout the yearsAsset measures the skills of each learner against the first four stages of the Ladder: Breakthrough, Preliminary, Intermediate, and Advanced.
  • Asset Languages qualifications are also mapped to the National Qualifications Framework, view the structure page to find out more information.
  • Asset is based on the 'Can Do' statements of the Languages Ladder.
  • Asset offers the chance to reward achievement in KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5, through to higher and adult education.
  • Each Asset Languages qualification, equivalent to Levels 1, 2 and 3, attracts Achievement and Attainment Table points and threshold contributions. Level 3 Asset qualifications are on the UCAS tariff.
